LEHIGH VALLEY KAYAK AND CANOE CLUB GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING

SPECIAL GUEST SPEAKER
IBRAHIM BUYUKCELEBI

FEBRUARY 5

7 PM

NORTHERN LEHIGH HIGH SCHOOL LIBRARY

SLATINGTON PA.

Ibrahim Buyukcelebi of Penn Future will discuss how shifting land-use patterns, particularly urban sprawl, warehouses, and data centers, have intensified pollution and stress on the Lehigh River and its tributaries. These growing factors, along with existing ones such as dams and historical pollution, unfortunately make the Lehigh River one of the most polluted in the United States. This presentation highlights how changes in land cover and existing factors are driving ecological decline and what sustainable land management practices could help reverse these trends.
